Enfield beat Lyndhurst by 171 runs

Match Report

Lyndhurst suffer their biggest ever defeat.

This was a hastily arranged conference fixture, the team arrived with high expectations on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. We were one short but looking forward to the game, the pitch and outfield were in excellent condition.

Lyndhurst lost the toss and were put into field. It was soon apparent that the two teams were not evenly matched as Enfield raced away to 365 for 2. Pick of Lyndhurst's bowlers were George Hedges and Stefan Harrington who took a wicket each conceding 5 runs an over in an innings where we conceded over 9 runs per over.

When it came to batting we were obviously intimidated by the massive score and with no volunteers the makeshift opening partnership of myself and JJ took to the field. JJ soon perished trying to keep up with the run rate and when Jeff was out leg before we realised the small chance we had was gone. The remaining batsman did not last to long and when I was last out the innings closed on 94.

I'm sure our younger players have learnt from the experience and will be better prepared for our next game, which I hope will be against a more evenly matched team.
